Ayurveda, the science of life talks about variety of sweet recipes which includes health benefits. One such recipe is “Halva”. This nourishing and strengthening Ayurvedic halva is not only healthy but also facilitates loss of appetite and distaste. Since this Ayurvedic halva recipe includes ingredients such as milk, ghee and almonds, it does not only enrich your taste buds but also balances emotions while nourishing all tissues.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of semolina
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1/4 cup of ghee ( Clarified butter)
- 1/4 cup of dates (chopped)
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of green cardamom ground
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg ground
- 1/2 cup of nuts ( chopped almond and pistachio)
Method
- Heat ghee in medium heat ( use a thick bottomed pan)
- Add semolina
- Stirring constantly for 20-25 minutes or until semolina is golden brown
- Be careful to not let it burn at the bottom
- Gradually pour warm milk first and then water and sugar into semolina mixture
- Add cardamom, nutmeg, dates and nuts
- Keep stirring and reduce the heat to low for further 5 minutes
- Cover the pan with lid, turn the stove off and leave it for 10-15 minutes
- Garnish with pistachios and serve
