Rita Sagrani began her journey into Ayurveda more than 20 years ago, after doctors diagnosed her with Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory condition of the digestive tract. She saw specialist after specialist, but conventional treatment brought little lasting relief.
Crohn’s disease affected every part of her life. It wore down her career in the fashion industry and made ordinary days hard to get through. So Rita looked for another path and found it close to home.
Why Rita returned to her roots
Rita grew up in an Ayurvedic household where her grandmother was a respected Ayurvedic doctor in their community. That example stayed with her. When Rita needed a different way forward, her grandmother’s work showed her where to look.
Rita travelled back to India and found an Ayurvedic clinic. There she began Panchakarma, a traditional Ayurvedic cleanse involving an intensive cycle of therapies. Her Ayurvedic doctor also changed her diet and prescribed herbal supplements. Daily yoga and meditation completed her routine.
What changed for Rita
Within seven days, Rita felt a real shift in her energy and well-being. In that moment, she knew she had found an approach that worked for her. And that feeling carried her forward.
With her energy restored, Rita built a successful international business career. She kept returning to India for Ayurvedic treatment and therapy, a commitment she held for more than two decades. That devotion grew into something bigger than her own healing.
How the Ayurvedic Wellness Centre began
Rita opened the Ayurvedic Wellness Centre in Bondi Junction in 2011. Before that, she spent years learning about health care and the pharmaceutical industry. She studied Ayurveda with
Deepak Chopra, which shaped the care she wanted to offer others.
