Seven Reasons to Detox with Ayurveda!

In Ayurveda, Panchakarma is the name given to the process of detoxifying the body. The word “detox” is thrown around a lot, to the point where it’s easy to forget what the actual benefits of undertaking such a process are. Ayurveda’s traditional detox methods have been tried and tested for over 5,000 years, and have been proven to rejuvenate and reinvigorate the body and mind. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of seven reasons to detox with our traditional Panchakarma treatment.

Our detox program…

1. Helps to guard against diseases which are caused by toxin buildup

Ayurveda believes that there are three kinds of toxins which may enter the body. They are called Ama, Amavisha and Garavisha. The first of these, Ama, is also the most common, and arises as a result of an unhealthy, imbalanced diet. Detoxing the body with Panchakarma promotes the release of Ama from the body by focusing on traditional Ayurvedic foods. Detoxing also aids in managing our levels of Amavisha, a more complicated form of Ama, and Garavisha, the name given to environmental toxins. Ridding the body of toxins is important, as if they accumulate, diseases may ensue. Ayurvedic medicine states that there is no better way to rid the body of toxins than to undertake a Panchakarma detox treatment.

2. Balances the doshas

Ayurvedic medicine believes that there are three basic internal energies which govern everyone and everything. Those energies, known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha, are collectively referred to as the body’s doshas. As with toxins, an excess of any of these doshas will cause internal imbalance, which may, in turn, result in disease. Detoxing the body will help to balance the doshas, thus guarding against disease in an hollistic manner. Click here to find out your body type.

3. Is customised to your specific body type

Immediately before undertaking a detox treatment, clients meet with one of our inhouse Ayurvedic doctors to discuss the details of our tried and tested program. In this consultation, the doctor will also be able to advise you of the most effective detox program (either a three day, five day or seven day program) for your specific body type. You will feel healthy and revitalised in no time!

4. Combats seasonal change

Traditionally, Ayurveda uses detox treatments to protect the body against seasonal change, especially the change from Winter to Spring. We customise our treatments based on your body’s response to the current and/or upcoming season. In this way, detox treatments may help to combat diseases in the time when your body is most vulnerable.

5. Kickstarts weight loss and a healthy lifestyle

Our detox programs are supported by a strict diet which you follow for the duration of the treatment. We supply you with the food let us take care of it! The diet is authentic and wholesome, so is just the kind of food you need if you are looking to lose weight and/or stay healthy. Once you’ve tried a week of healthy food thanks to our detox program, why not make eating healthily a habit?

6. Purifies tissues

During the program, you’ll have several oil baths and massages each day, which help to purify tissues through the removal of toxins. This will leave your skin feel fresh and rejuvenated by flushing out toxins.

7. Relaxes the body and mind

Fundamentally, Panchakarma detox is a profoundly enjoyable and relaxing experience. Over the course of the program, you’ll be treated to massages and hot oil baths which will leave you feeling relaxed and reenergised. There is no more soothing a treatment for both the body and mind than detoxing.
