Get Peace Of Mind: Ancient Indian Practice Brings Benefits

Laura Trieste

As many health fads come and go, Ayurveda has stood the test of time for thousands of years.

The ancient Indian practice is used to help heal many problems like stress, fatigue, aches and chronic conditions such as insomnia and digestion problems.

“It looks at the body holistically- physically, mentally and emotionally,”  The Ayurvedic Wellness Centre founder Rita Sagrani said.  Factors like massage, herbal medicine, meditation, diet and yoga can all be used to tailor a treatment.

Ms Sagrani explored her own interest in Ayurveda almost two decades ago on a trip back to India when she wanted to help her condition of Crohn’s disease.

“In the first seven days I could see a radical difference,” Ms Sagrani said.

“It brought my stress levels down and my mind was very calm.”

She was inspired enough to open her Bondi Junction practice, where clients can talk to a resident doctor to pinpont the cause of their problem.

Abhyanga is a massage treatment using herbal oils to relax the body and mind.

“We use long strokes with a lot of oil to keep the blood circulating,” Ms Sagrani said.

This may be followed by a Shirodhara treatment to help stress and other nervous system problems.
