WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to consult with an Ayurvedic doctor first before booking a treatment?
No, you don’t need a separate consultation for a simple wellness Ayurvedic treatment. Your therapist will check your health and adjust the oil and pressure to suit you.

A consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner makes sense if you want a tailored program or have an ongoing health concern. Keep your GP in the loop too.
The biggest difference is the oil. Ayurvedic treatments use warm herbal oil on bare skin, while Thai massage is done fully clothed without oil and relies on passive, yoga-like stretches. Remedial massage focuses on treating specific muscle or soft tissue problems, often with firm, targeted pressure.

Ayurvedic treatments take a whole-body approach, with warm herbal oil applied in flowing, rhythmic strokes to support overall balance and muscle comfort. Ayurvedic treatments lean far more heavily on oil and nurturing touch, and aren’t built around deep-tissue work.
No, you don’t need to know your dosha before booking. Doshas come from traditional Ayurvedic theory rather than modern laboratory science, so treat them as a guide for personalising your care.

Our therapist selects a suitable oil for you based on the form you complete before treatment. If you have ongoing health concerns or want a clinical treatment plan, we recommend seeing our doctor beforehand.
Ayurvedic treatments are generally low-risk for healthy adults when performed by a trained therapist. Tell your therapist about any fever, skin condition, or heart problem before you begin.

Pregnancy requires an individual assessment, since it may limit which treatments and oils suit you. We generally only consider massage after your first trimester, and only with approval from your maternity care provider, so speak with our team before you book.

Please also disclose every known allergy when you book, and again before your treatment. This lets our therapist check ingredients, offer an alternative or advise against treatment if there’s any concern. We never use an oil that has caused you a reaction before.
Sesame oil is the traditional base for Ayurvedic treatments and is often infused with herbs suited to your constitution. Coconut oil is common in warmer months because Ayurveda considers it cooling.  Classical blends like Ksheerabala oil (made with the herb bala and milk) and Mahanarayan oil can also be used in Ayurvedic treatments.

Let your therapist know about any skin sensitivities before the oil touches you. Because the oil covers most of your body, what you wear matters too.
Wear loose, comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little oily. For full-body Ayurvedic treatments, you’ll usually undress to your comfort level, but you remain securely draped throughout. Your therapist keeps you covered with towels and uncovers only the area being worked on. You stay in control and can ask to skip any area.

If your session focuses on the head, hands or feet, there may be no need to undress at all.
Yes, avoid a heavy meal for two to three hours before your session. A light meal one to one and a half hours beforehand is usually fine. Arrive hydrated, without feeling overly full.

Ayurveda teaches that massage on a full stomach can interfere with digestion. Lying face down after a big lunch rarely feels comfortable.
Where practical, we recommend waiting about 1.5 to 2 hours before showering so your skin can absorb the oil. Use warm water rather than hot or cold, and add mild soap if you want to remove extra oil.

Your hair may feel oily after a scalp massage, so bring a hair tie or hat if you’re heading straight back to work.
You can book your Ayurvedic treatment by calling us at +61 410 315 465 or through our Fresha page. Pick a treatment and time, then mention any health conditions.

If you’re unsure which Ayurvedic treatment fits your needs, ask the team for guidance before you confirm.
Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to complete a health form and settle in.

Arriving early also lets you share recent health changes with your therapist. A calm start helps you enjoy every minute of your Ayurvedic treatment.
